Why the Test Date, Not Today, Is What Counts
Retrospective scoring is common. A session happens on one day, and the paperwork gets finished a few days or weeks later. If you calculate age using the write-up date instead of the actual test date, the result can land in the wrong norm band, which changes the standard score. Always use the day testing actually happened.
Should I use today’s date or the test date?
Always the test date. Enter the day the assessment was actually administered, even if you’re filling out the paperwork later.
Does this work for OT assessments like the BOT-2 or Sensory Profile 2?
Yes. Any assessment that scores by exact age at time of testing works the same way: enter the birth date and the test date.
