BRIGANCE assessments select the Data Sheet by a child’s total age in months, not years and months separately. This calculator leads with that number, so it’s the first thing you see.
Why Total Months Matters for BRIGANCE
- A child aged 4 years 7 months is 55 months old, and that number determines which BRIGANCE Screen III form applies.
- The IED III and the Early Childhood Screens both key off month of age, so a one-month error can move a child into the wrong scoring band entirely.
- For children born prematurely, check the box above to use the due date instead of the birth date for adjusted age in months.
Does BRIGANCE use years and months, or total months?
Total months. A child at 4 years 7 months is scored as 55 months for Data Sheet and form selection, not as “4;7.”
How do I handle a premature baby on BRIGANCE Early Childhood Screens?
Check “Born prematurely” above and enter the due date. The result is adjusted (corrected) age in months, which is what the Early Childhood Screens require for children under 24 months.
